1. Educate and nurture young entrepreneurial talent and new musical talent.
The Blastbeat programme offers a unique opportunity to teenagers. It allows them to channel their energy into something positive - music, and business, and social responsibility skills. Blastbeat aims to train students in the skills required to make an entrepreneurial business work. The programme focuses on teamwork, the appreciation of the different skill sets required to keep a music company going, the importance of social entrepreneurship and the most valuable lesson of all - getting involved in something you're passionate about and that is fun!
Blastbeat also offers an amazing opportunity to young musicians. Through the Blastbeat battle of the bands competitions held across the country, new bands get great gigging experience - they meet hundreds of other teens passionate about music, and learn from each other the skills required to build fan bases, to improve showmanship, and to get what they need from the music business. The prize of a recording contract with Blastbeat Records also gives young bands an added incentive to impetus to put in the hard work required to be a success. they need to drive themselves to success.
2. Empower young people and make positive changes in local communities.
The beauty of the Blastbeat programme is that it puts the students in control. They will get out of it what they put in. Blastbeat gives students the power to make important decisions, take responsibility for their actions, and to learn from the decisions they've makede. Through the programme, students tackle the growing problem of diminished resources for teenagers in local communities. Through running their own alcohol & drug free live music events, Blastbeat allows teens to create a positive &, safe recreational environmentactivity for themselves and othertheir peers in their community. Many of our ‘Blastbeat alumni' continue to run live music events after they have completed the programme which sustains the positive social & cultural impact on the local community and lifestyle of its young people.
3. Inspire young people to be more socially conscious.
One of the requirements of the Blastbeat programme is that all mini companies formed must donate at least 25 per cent of their profits to charity. The students are free to choose a charity of their choice (check out our charities page for information on some of the charities supported by Blastbeat), and through this they gain a greater awareness of the social and environmental problems facing the world. Students research charities, and make a group decision as to who they should donate their funds to.
The programme also contains a heavy emphasis on carbon neutrality, and an ‘Eco-CSR Manager' is appointed in each mini company. The Eco CSR Manager is in charge of keeping the company as green and carbon free as possible. They even use a carbon calculator to ensure they are keeping their school live music event as carbon neutral as possible. Teaching teens about the importance of charity and environmental issues ensures the continued development of a socially conscious generation.
